Reviews

From time to time, I write reviews for HippoPress. I've covered concerts as well as restaurants, cds and live bands. For a while, I wrote a regular restaurant column called The Grumpy Vegetarian. Here is a sampling of some of the reviews:

"Yes, Dear" - Books for Expectant Fathers: I take a look at several books aimed at soon-to-be dads.

"Devil In The White City": A review of the latest history of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. (FAR more fascinating than it sounds)

"The Pleasure of My Company": I give my take on Steve Martin's second novel.

"Barry Manilow": I covered Barry Manilow's first concert in New Hampshire and discovered that I don't really represent the demographic he is reaching out to.

"Boston Pops": When I was assigned to cover the Boston Pops' Christmas concert, I started to realize that I was getting most of the nerd stories. I ended up having the last laugh in this case, because the Pops turned out to be surprisingly hip.

"Video Fireplace": A glowing video review of the nerdiest video ever.

"Planet of the Apes": The 2001 remake of this classic was not what I expected.

"Hillview Restaurant": I made a mess while eating at this place, but liked it a lot anyway.

"Tarbox Ramblers": I don't like live music, but even I liked these guys.

"A Forgotten CD": I review a cd I'd forgotten I even owned.
